The highlight of the recently concluded Toronto International Film Festival was undoubtedly the high calibre performance of Reese Witherspoon. The actress was acknowledged and applauded for her outstanding role in two of her much talked about upcoming movies.

The 38-year-old actress and producer is speculated to win a couple of Oscars for her outstanding work in these movies.

Her first upcoming film is 'The Good Lie', which is based on real life events. As reported by Eonline, the screening of its premiere at the film festival saw an overwhelming and instant response in the form of standing ovation from the spectators, even before the cast and crew could come on stage. Critics are forecasting an Oscar win as supporting actress for Witherspoon for this movie.

In the movie, the actress plays the role of an American woman who mentors four Sudanese refugee boys when they win a chance to relocate to the U.S. The four refugees are played by Sudanese actors who are real refugees and child soldiers during the Second Sudanese Civil War.

The actress claimed that the whole experience in the movie was quite educational. "They were teaching me things that I didn't understand and know," said Witherspoon. "In the very end of the movie, we got to go to Africa to the refugee camp that's in the movie. It was a great educational opportunity for me," she added.

The movie will be released on October 3, which is the same opening night of another Witherspoon production 'Gone Girl'. Although she does not star in the latter, the movie was produced by her production company Pacific Standards.

Another movie that caught everyone's attention in the Toronto International Film Festival is 'Wild'. The movie is based on a memoir by Cheryl Strayed and explores the life of a woman who embarks on a 1,000-mile coastline journey alone. It is a feminist movie showcasing a woman who indulges in drug abuse and casual sex before backpacking solo for three months. This highly anticipated movie is set to be released on December 5.
