With a win, Everton will be able to climb onto the fourth spot of the English Premier League, while Newcastle United will look to improve their record and distance themselves from the relegation zone.

The Toffees have yet to lose a Premier League game in five outings, and manager Roberto Martinez wants to keep the run alive.

"It is a fantastic label to have but it is something we will have to work really hard to extend," Martinez told premierleague.com.

"It is a beautiful label to have but in September you don't win anything."

Antolin Alcaraz (hamstring), Steven Pienaar (muscle), Leon Osman (groin), and Arouna Kone (knee) are all doubtful to suit-up because of their injuries.

In contrast, Newcastle United have lost their last Premiership fixture against Hull City FC but bounced back at midweek by eliminating Leeds United FC, 2-0, in the Capital One Cup.

Magpies boss Alan Pardew believes that his team has improved from the 2012/13 season in terms of goalscoring, but must improve on the defensive end to be able to get the job done.

"What it does look like in our team is that we've got goals," said Pardew.

"For the first time in a long time, that bodes well. But we have to lock the back door. We didn't do that against Hull, and that's the consistency we need."

Shola Ameobi (knock), Jonas Gutierrez (hamstring), Steven Taylor (hamstring) will be excluded from the line-up due to injuries, while Yohan Cabaye's status will be further determined.
