Everton Outclassed Arsenal by 3-0 in Premier League
Everton again proved their best as they simply beat out Arsenal by three goals to close in top four in the Champions League.
The three goals came from Steven Naismith, Romelu Lukaku and Mikel Areta in this decisive match.
The first goal arrived at 14 minutes when Steven Naismith scored his fourth league goal of his season, taking due opportunity as Romelu Lukaku made a low effort to the goal saved by Wojciech Szczęsny, which was nicely managed by the Scottish to end up with a lead.
Arsenal looked forward to make up the loss immediately as they made some quick passes, creating some opportunity, but that was turned down by a good block from James McCarthy.
The second goal was 34 minutes by the Belgian, Romelu Lukaku, who surpassed the feeble defence, ending up with a goal, while helpless Szczęsny has nothing to do but just witness the catastrophe to take place.
Arsenal continued to fight back in the first half itself, but Everton was smart to dismantle the attack.
As the frustration started mounting for the Gunners in the second half, they made another mistake which eventually came as a gift to the visitor. The own-goal of Mikel Arteta finally sealed the fate of the game.
Roberto Martinez made some few changes to face the Gunners by placing Lukaku on the right and Naismith to play in the central position proved the equation fruitful.
"It worked very well, we've worked on it this week ... It was more about trying to occupy the Arsenal defence and I thought Rom and Kev led by example doing that. They created space for me in the middle to link up and make runs through and I think for Kev's goal [the Arteta own goal] it worked perfectly ... Kev's got on the ball and played me through and he's managed to get on the end it," Naismith said.
