Ex-Clippers Owner Donald Sterling Celebrates 60th Anniversary With Estranged Wife Shelly On The Beach
Donald Sterling and wife Shelly found a peaceful ground amid legal battles. The estranged couple reportedly celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary together.
According to TMZ Sports, Donald and Shelly went to Balboa Bay Resort in Newport Beach, California. Several sources told the entertainment gossip website that Donald and Shelly decided to hang out together for their anniversary, but it doesn't mean that a reconciliation between the two is underway.
"It looks weird from the outside, but it's just the way they are," a source told TMZ Sports.
According to reports, Donald and Shelly got married in 1955. They had three children, namely, Scott, Chris, and Joanna. Scott has died at a young age of 32. It was a week after Shelly kicked Donald out of their Beverly Hills mansion due to his infidelity issues in 2012.
In March, Shelly has filed a lawsuit against V. Stiviano, a woman she alleged to have had a sexual affair with Donald. A month later, Donald has received a lifetime ban from the National Basketball Association (NBA) after audios of him making racist comments were released to the general public. In addition to the lifetime ban, Donald was fined to pay damages reportedly worth $2.5 million. The NBA has given Shelly the authority to make negotiations for the sale of the basketball team.
In May, it has been revealed that Shelly has agreed to sell the team to Steve Balmer, who was the chief executive officer of Microsoft Corporation, for $2 billion. Balmer became the new owner of the Los Angeles Clippers after the NBA's Board of Governors approved the sale. Donald disputed the sale treaty in hopes that he can keep the basketball team that he purchased for $12.5 million more than a couple of decades ago.
According to news article by SI.com, it seemed that Donald has given up his mission of getting the Clippers back because he failed to file a petition ahead of the deadline set by the California Supreme Court. Donald was given 10 business days from Aug. 13 to file a petition but the deadline has gone by.
