Former Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl reveals that she uses electric cigaretter in her present effort to keep herself away from smoking (and craving for a nicotine dose). Heigl appears to be doing a fine job at it, and now she's telling everyone that smoking "sucks."

"I use an electronic cigarette. I know it's ridiculous, but it's helping me not to actually smoke real cigarettes," said Heigl in an interview with Parade.com.

"You feel like you are smoking, and you get to exhale but it's just water vapour and not nicotine. I've been doing it for six months. Smoking sucks!"

Heigl's attempt to quit smoking is part of her effort to set a good model for Naleigh, her adopted daughter with husband Josh Kelley, dismissing smoking as a "stupid thing."

Heigl said: "The one thing I would say to my kid is, 'It's not just that it's bad for you. Do you want to spend the rest of your life fighting a stupid addiction to a stupid thing that doesn't even really give you a good buzz?"

Katherine Heigl stars in the new movie "Life As We Know It" opposite Josh Duhammel.
