Jacques Perron lost his license as he allegedly allowed his ex-lover to be engaged in a continual act of sexual abuse with a mentally challenged student.

Ontario College of Teachers revoked the former principal's license Wednesday as he did not take any disciplinary measure against the employee who used to abuse the disabled student.

Mr Perron was the head a Catholic school (French language) in Kenora, Ontario. The employee was allegedly a dear friend of Mr Perron who might may even have dated the man some time back.

This man was an educational assistant, lunch supervisor and custodian during Mr Perron's term at school from 2003 to 2006. The testimonies included a significant one from a student who alleged that the educational assistant forced him to have sex with him many times in a week. He also had to share the same room in a hotel when they went for school trip to Winnipeg back in 2003. It was also alleged that Mr Perron was there on the trip.

A three-member committee decided to revoke Mr Perron's accreditation. He will not be allowed to re-apply for a minimum of 5 years. The lawyer argued that Mr Perron should actually be considered as an accomplice because he willfully ignored the abuse.

The revocation of Mr Perron's licence seemed to be the only valid way to penalise Perron, as any other action less severe sanction would have undermined people's confidence in justice. Mr Perron was penalised in this extreme manner as he was in a trustworthy position. He had enough authority to take a suitable action against the violator.

On the other hand, Jacques Roy, Mr Perron's lawyer, was not reluctant to the complaint at all. Mr Perron believed that the decision of revocation was taken on the basis of false allegations from former colleagues and students. He felt like the one who was victimised for no reason.

Mr Perron was approached by many school employees regarding the unacceptable conduct of the said employee. Records said that the employees were told by Mr Perron that nothing serious had been found after investigation.

The employees of the school did further complain regarding the relation between Mr Perron and the other man. They thought it was "strange," suggesting every reason to believe that they had a relation and might even have lived together. In 2006, Mr Perron was fired by the school board.
