After rejecting the $975 million divorce settlement cheque that her former husband, oil billionaire Harold Hamm, offered last week, Sue Ann Arnall came to her senses and had the cheque cashed.

However, she insisted that her acceptance of the payment does not mean she is dropping an appeal before the Oklahoma Supreme Court she made to get more money from the chief executive of Continental Resources, whose wealth is estimated at $18 billion.

She said, quoted by NBC, "I will not dismiss my appeal and do not feel that my right to appeal should be denied because I have accepted, in the interim, a small portion of the estate that we built over more than two decades."

In turn, Hamm requested the Supreme Court to throw out his ex-wife's appeal since she had already accepted the benefits of the divorce initiated in 2012 and decided by the trial court in November 2014.

The couple were together for 26 years until they split in 2012.

Arnall's acceptance of the $975 million check, the highest divorce settlements on record, makes it difficult for her to win the appeal, legal experts said, reports Business Insider.
