Facebook Adds Two Buttons for Entrepreneurs and Online Stores
Facebook are currently added two more buttons, especially made for business people who wants to start or currently has an online store.
Facebook popularized the thumbs-up sign or the "Like" button to show the user's approval to other people's posts. Now, the social network has launched "want" and "collect" button that enable the users to create wishlists of the things that they desire or what they plan to buy.
This move of Facebook is an attempt to lay the groundwork for a push into online shopping, allowing its one billion users to browse and buy goods through the site.
However, there are some concerns with this new feature of the prime social networking site. One of the concerns is these new buttons will rekindle the privacy concerns that many people have with Facebook's Like button, which has helped the social network to collect massive amount of personal information.
According to Facebook, "People will be able to engage with these collections and share things they are interested in with their friends. People can click through and buy these items off of Facebook."
The buttons work when a person clicks on the Want or Collect button, the shopping item and wishlist appears on their "Timeline".
Analysts say that the system, which Facebook calls Collections, will help the social network to break into the online shopping market by encouraging users to buy products for their friends or by sending shoppers straight to online stores. Facebook said that it would not receive a fee when an item is purchased from a wishlist item on a retailer's site, but did not rule out doing so in future.
Analysts say that Facebook is under pressure to create new ways of making money after its disastrous flotation in May, after which billions of dollars were wiped from the company's value.
The social network insists that it never shares or sells personal data of their subscribers. Moreover, the popular social media said that there are strict privacy controls that are available on the site at present.
