Facebook Hackers: Know Their Tricks to Stay Ahead
Recently, a security researcher-now dubbed as a hacker by others-was able to find a major flaw in Facebook's OAuth System, a flaw that can potentially give a hacker access to any Facebook user's entire account.
In his blog, Nir Goldshlager was able to hack into the system without even using installed apps, meaning that the victim doesn't have to allow any application any access to his Facebook account for him to get full permission.
While Facebook has claimed to have remedied this hole in their security system, it's better to be prepared for hackers-and the best way to do so would be to know how they will strike before they even do.
Phishing
This is probably the oldest trick in a hacker's guidebook, but it still remains effective to this day.
According to Blogsolute, using a phishing page is an easy method to steal a password. There are also tools used for hacking an account, which are available on the Internet.
This is also the reason why a strong password is recommended in Facebook, beause
Photo baiting
How many times have you clicked on a photo before only to be redirected to a porn site or some other site that has nothing to do with the original photo that you were trying to access?
This is one of the techniques that Facebook hackers can explore hacking. According to Digital Trends, this technique bumps up the porn site's SEO results when people search for the original photo that you had clicked on.
And this can become very common in Facebook, especially in their ads.
Facebook Apps
Just as Goldshlager had aimed to infiltrate people's Facebook accounts, some hackers try to use built-in applications that don't need for the user's permission.
Of course, there is still the age-old practice of users accepting tempting apps, such as those offering free games at the exchange of personal information. Hackers make use of these apps to collect data about you.
