New rumors speculate that Facebook would now push through with their own Facebook smartphone. This is not the first time that these types of rumor has been released as there are already previous speculations stating the details about a new Facebook smartphone.

The rumors about a new Facebook smartphone emerged again when a report for New York Times published new information about it. According to the report, Facebook has hired previous Apple software and hardware engineers who have worked on the iPhone as well as iPad in order to aid the company in their goal of developing their own Facebook smartphone. The report also states that Facebook has plans of launching this smartphone by next year. The source for the said information wants to remain anonymous as there could be possible consequences once their identity has been revealed.

As mentioned, this is not the first time rumors about a Facebook smartphone has emerged in the web. Last 2010, TechCrunch revealed that Facebook is already working on with their own Facebook smartphone but months have passed and no Facebook smartphone was launched in the market. After that rumor, another website called AllThingsD revealed that HTC has reportedly entered a partnership with Facebook to launch a smartphone. The said partnership with HTC had a project code name of "Buffy". Though there were rumors about a Facebook smartphone before, the supposed product was not launched thus putting an end to all these speculations.

Some experts are saying that this new move from Facebook is a way for the company to gain more ad revenues as it has a lower ad revenue in the smartphone area. There are also experts who are skeptical regarding the success of this business venture as there are a lot of competitors in the market when it comes to smartphones.
