Family of '7th Heaven' Actor Stephen Collins Worried For His Possible Suicide Over Pedophile Allegations
"7th Heaven's" Stephen Collins shocked fans when he was exposed as a serial child molester by an audiotape of his therapy session with his once therapist and ex-wife Faye Grant. While his family is equally shocked and angry at what he had done, they are also increasingly worried that Collins would suddenly decide to take his own life because of the intense media attention he is now getting.
Collins, according to his family, may commit suicide because of him being exposed as a serial child molester. Even though they do not think Collins' crimes must be forgotten, they cannot help but stay by his side so that he would no do something dangerous to himself. Daily Mail online reports that a family friend says the actor's family fears he would eventually hurt himself. This constant worrying is making them confused as to what they should feel on the actor's sexual crimes.
"His family by no means condone what he's said to have done, but it doesn't stop them worrying about him," the pal told the website. "They fear he could take his own life. That's how low he is right now. No one wants to leave him by himself."
It's not only his family that is fearing for the same. In fact, a lot of fans and even the police think he's capable of doing it. According to TMZ, when a report was made about a shot being heard around his residence, police were quick to swarm into the area. Turns out that it was a false alarm.
"7th Heaven" cast members were also at odds on what to feel over the controversy. They said they never felt anything weird from Collins that would make them think he could be sick person with the inclinations to engage in molestation.
Catherine Hicks, who played his wife and devoting partner on the show, from 1996 to 2007 told TMZ that she did not know anything and she believes Collins is a good guy. Kyle Searles, who also appeared regularly on the show from 2004 to 2007 told TMZ as well that the news is shocking because he could not remember Collins being anything but fatherly.
"I never once had any type of encounter where he was maybe a little inappropriate, nobody in the cast had ever come to me, nor was it ever an issue," shared the 29-year-old actor. "Stephen was somebody that I looked up to. If you ask anybody that knows me pretty well and has asked about my experiences in Los Angeles and acting, Stephen was by far the most likable, influential genuine person that i ever had the pleasure of working with."
