"Family Guy" fans are in shock. The character of beloved dog 'Brian" has been killed in the show. The makers are not bringing back the dog. In the Nov. 24 episode of Family Guy, Brian was killed in a road accident and a new dog named Vinnie will replace Brian.

According to TMZ's reports, "Vinnie the Dog is already set to star in at least six episodes, and there will probably be more after to come after that."

Vinnie the Dog will be voiced by Sopranos star Tony Sirico. Getting over Brian's death is not easy and we wonder how Vinnie will prove itself in the show. Will he get the same popularity as Brian?

The reason Family Guy makers killed such a popular character is "novelty value." According to the executive producer of the show, the idea to kill Brian got pitched in the writers room and it sort of caught fire. We thought it could be a fun way to shake things up.We started talking about what the next couple episodes could be and we got very excited about the way this change will affect the family dynamics and the characters.

However, the fans think differently. Many of them have already filed petition to bring back Brian. The petition which been signed by more than 35,000 fans reads, "The writers of Family Guy didn't just kill off one of their creations, they killed off the dog who has lived in our homes for the last 15 years." They killed the dog we all have come to love. They killed America's dog!
