Fan-Favourite Character Makes A Comeback In ‘Street Fighter V’
Despite a hard-to-follow storyline and an even harder-to-follow timeline, the characters of "Street Fighter" have a lot of personality to them. It's pretty easy to identify Ryu as an Honorable warrior or Ken as a cocky fighter or M. Bison as pure evil incarnate even if you don't know their back stories. So when Charlie Nash appeared at the end of the extended "Street Fighter V" trailer, fans everywhere around the world got excited.
Although it appears that any news involving any word about a new "Street Fighter" game is genuinely exciting for fans. It does not help that there have been a number of leaks reported by the likes of Gamerant and IGN. Previously, a "Street Fighter V" trailer was leaked even before word of any production for the upcoming iteration has been reported anywhere.
Things got more exciting when Gamespot unveiled a live gameplay demo of "Street Fighter V" at the 2014 Capcom Cup Tournament, which featured a fight between series mainstays Ryu and Chun-Li. After the tournament finished, Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono came to the stage and introduced the extended trailer that showed the return of fan-favourite Charlie Nash.
Originally known as Nash in Japan, Charlie is considered an important part of the "Street Fighter" canon, thanks to his relationships with Guile and Chun-Li. Charlie is Guile's superior who taught him how to fight, which allowed gave Guile a similar playing style and sonic booms. He has also maintained a good friendship with Chun-Li. While he was mentioned as dead in "Street Fighter II," he did make an appearance as a playable character in the prequel series "Street Fighter Alpha." There, it was revealed his personal vendetta against the villainous M.Bison and his noble sacrifice to save the world from him--even if it was in vain as Bison lived and continued to terrorize the lives of other fan-favourite warriors.
Outside of the main Street Fighter games, Charlie also appeared in some of Capcom's crossovers, particularly in Marvel: "X-Men vs Street Fighter" and "Marvel vs Capcom 2: Age of Heroes." He has also appeared in the Street Fighter comics from Udon studios where they combined his names from the U.S. and Japanese versions, giving him the name Charlie Nash.
With three characters announced and more to come, it looks like "Street Fighter V" will be a big part of the franchise. "Street Fighter V" will be a PS4 and PC exclusive and is set to come out sometime in 2015.
