Dami Im just announced her entry song for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, and her fans agree with her choice, “Sound of Silence.”

“X Factor Australia” Season 5 winner Dami Im is Australia’s official representative at the annual competition, which will be held in Sweden on May. She shared the latest development on her social media accounts. “My #SBSEurovision song has dropped! Watch my music video for #SoundOfSilence now and tell me what you think!”

Fans – both from Australians and Europeans – were quick to express their support for the 27-year-old “Gladiator” singer.

Sound of Silence, released by Sony Music, brandishes Im’s powerful vocals and unique singing style. With this song, she hopes to create a strong impact on the Eurovision stage and win the hearts of voters. Im is known to dominate the stage during live performances, instantly becoming a crowd favorite during her time at “X Factor Australia.”

“The first time I heard Sound of Silence I knew it was the perfect song for me to perform at the Eurovision Song Contest," Im said in an interview with SBS. "We live in a world where it is easy to be connected every minute of the day but along with this connection you can feel alone and isolated. I can’t wait to perform it live in Stockholm and connect with a whole new audience.”

The mid-tempo track is penned by DNA Songs, an Australian songwriter and production company founded by Anthony Egizii and David Musumeci. They are behind the hits of pop music artists Ricky Martin, Jessica Mauboy, Nathaniel, Delta Goodrem, Timomatic and The Veronicas, according to SBS.

Last week, Im was announced to be Australia’s entrant at 2016 Eurovision. She succeeds Guy Sebastian, who made history last year as the first-ever Australian contestant in the singing competition. Sebastian, who was also the first "Australian Idol" winner, landed on the fifth spot for his performance of “Tonight Again.”
