'Fantastic Beasts 2' cast may star Callum Turner as Newt Scamander's brother
'Fantastic Beasts 2' cast may include Callum Turner
The “Fantastic Beasts 2” cast has been updated with the recent addition of actor Callum Turner. It’s worth noting, however, that his addition is not yet finalised, as the actor is still in talks to star in the “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” sequel. Turner, who is known for his roles in “Green Room,” “Victor Frankenstein” and “Assassin’s Creed,” is in talks to portray the brother of Newt Scamander (played by Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne). News of Turner’s potential addition to the cast was first reported by Variety.
Previously, it was reported that Jude Law bagged the role of young Albus Dumbledore in the film. As some may be aware, Dumbledore is the beloved Headmaster of Hogwarts. Previous “Harry Potter” films had shown a much older iteration of the character that fans have come to know and love, and since the “Fantastic Beasts” sequel serves as a sort of prequel spinoff to the original film franchise, Law as Dumbledore will be the community’s first look at a much younger version of the character — one who is yet to take over for Hogwarts. In this timeline, Dumbledore is but a humble professor for Transfiguration.
“Jude Law is a phenomenally talented actor whose work I have long admired, and I’m looking forward to finally having the opportunity to work with,” director David Yates told Variety of the actor joining the “Fantastic Beasts” cast. “I know he will brilliantly capture all the unexpected facets of Albus Dumbledore as J.K. Rowling reveals this very different time in his life.”
Additionally, the upcoming film will also have actor Johnny Depp in the magical world. He will be portraying Gellert Grindelwald. The sequel will continue Newt Scamander’s adventures as a magizoologist exploring the wizarding world and its magical creatures. While the growing “Fantastic Beasts” franchise is, in essence, an extension of the “Harry Potter” film universe, it also marks the screenwriting debut of J.K. Rowling, the author behind the entire “Harry Potter” universe which the original films were based on. Rowling will also be returning to the sequel as screenwriter yet again.
“Fantastic Beasts 2” is set for a release in 2018. Its predecessor was first released to theatres in 2016.
