The "Far Cry" franchise has had a very interesting shelf life. The first game mixed a lovely tropical island setting with deadly scientific experiments that were trying to kill you, while the sequel went a realistic route that had no sci-fi elements whatsoever and adding a fully explorable open world filled with side quests. The third game "Far Cry 3" was Ubisoft's biggest hit from the franchise so far, not really changing that much of the gameplay, but adding a much more personal story and a fascinating villain in Vaas. The fourth game used the third's formula with new characters and a new setting.

Now, Ubisoft is asking their fans what they want to see in the next installment. This comes from a report from Eurogamer who were contacted by several "Far Cry 4" players that received a Ubisoft survey on what they want to see in the next game and the choices were fascinating to say the least.

According to Polygon, choices in the "Far Cry" survey range from new environments such as Peru and Alaska to historical events such as the Vietnam War or the Wild West. Players are also given the option for a straight up sequels to the fourth game and "Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon."

Then come the more imaginative choices. The survey also gives options for scenarios that include fighting zombies in a post-apocalyptic world, teaming up with Vampires, a "Jurassic Park" style setting filled with dinosaurs ala "Dino Crisis" and even a "Mad Max"-inspired environment. The possibilities are almost endless.

Ubisoft's track record with surveys usually hint at the future of their upcoming games as they've done this numerous times with the "Assassin's Creed" franchise. Going all the way back to 2010 Ubisoft usually quizzes their fans on what they want to see so they can deliver something satisfying, this is why multiplayer became such an important aspect in "Assassin's Creed: Unity" or why there was an intertwining storyline of the first two protagonists in "Assassin's Creed: Revelations." It remains to be seen whether this will result in an entirely different "Far Cry 5" or a crazy expansion of a previous title like "Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon," but either way the results will be interesting.
