'Fashion Police' 2015: Kathy Griffin Replacing Late Comedienne Joan Rivers, Scrapping Weekly Schedules -- Report
After months of speculations, Kathy Griffin is said to have been named as Joan Rivers' replacement for "Fashion Police." The show is expected to make a come back on 2015, with a new format, according to reports.
It has been speculated for some time now that Kathy Griffin is set to replace the legendary comedienne on "Fashion Police." Kathy admitted to Access Hollywood that she was indeed offered the job. Now, TMZ reports that this is a done deal -- Kathy Griffin will be starring in "Fashion Police" and will be seen giving fashion advice and funny reviews. However, the network has yet to release an official statement, confirming about this "deal."
TMZ also has a lot of other things to dish about the show. Apart from having a new face, the show is also apparently coming back with a different format. It will no longer be a weekly series. Now, "Fashion Police" will only be aired during awards shows, special occasions as well as during event programming.
Meanwhile, there were reports that Joan Rivers' daughter, Melissa, wanted Kathy as her mom's replacement because she's someone Joan would have approved of as a host of the popular E! show.
Unfortunately, when the legendary comedienne was alive, there were reports that suggested that Kathy Griffin wanted the position so much that she tried to steal Joan's job. According to these reports, Kathy had set her sights on Joan's role in "Fashion Police" while Joan was still in coma. These reports were quickly quashed by Griffin's agent. In addition, a close friend of the comedienne also defended her, saying "I don't believe it. She's not the type of person who would do that. Kathy has integrity, and she admired and worshipped Joan."
At best, this new report by TMZ is still pure speculation as an E! spokesperson told Page Six that talks are still underway as to who would replace Joan Rivers on the show and that the network still has nothing to confirm.
