'Fashion Police' Coming Back On 2015 Despite Joan Rivers' Passing
Joan Rivers' unfortunate and sudden passing is not going to hinder the E!'s "Fashion Police" from continuing. This was decided with the comedienne talk show host's daughter, Melissa Rivers.
Every time there is a red carpet event in Hollywood, fans almost could not resist tuning in on E!'s show "Fashion Police," to know who are among the A-listers in the events are the best dressed and the worst-dressed. Fashion Police debuted on the NBC Universal-owned cable in September 2010 as a fashion talk show designed to provide funny and yet straightforward critiques of celebrities' fashion hits and misses. It is made up of Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne, George Kotsiopoulos, and Joan Rivers. However, when the 81-year old fashion critic passed away on Sept. 4, the show's future became uncertain. The Hollywood Reporter now claimed that it would return just in time to cover the Golden Globes on Jan. 12, 2015.
E! issued a statement saying the show's comeback is undertaken with the blessing of Joan Rivers' daughter and Fashion Police executive producer Melissa Rivers.
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Joan Rivers and, for the last two weeks, have turned our attention to honoring her memory on all of our platforms. We have also thought long and hard about what Joan would have wanted as it pertains to the future of Fashion Police," E! shared in an statement on Friday. "We decided, with Melissa Rivers' blessing, that Joan would have wanted the franchise to continue. Fashion Police will return in 2015, commencing with Golden Globes coverage on Monday, January 12. No further details will be announced at this time."
Melissa Rivers also gave her own confirmation. "Yes, Fashion Police will continue. We're going to hit pause for a little while, but Fashion Police will be back in January," she said. She also thanked the outpouring of support for her and her family during this trying period of their lives.
Joan Rivers have become such a figure in E! Network that it even had a special "Joan Day" in memory of the comedienne on that Friday as well. Fans were treated to hours of "Fashion Police," reruns which stated as early as 7 AM .The day ended with the showing of a new episode, entitled "Fashion Police: Celebrating Joan" at 8 PM. Melissa Rivers herself did a feature on this episode.
Joan Rivers' sudden passing certainly touched many. In the same vein, "Fashion Police" also had become a staple show on fashion. The host's biography, entitled "John Rivers: A Life," is set to be released on 2016 by publisher Little, Brown and Company. The book will be written by Vanity Fair and New York Times journalist Leslie Bennetts.
