Fast and the Furious movie producers have decided to retire Brian O'Conner, Paul Walker's character, instead of killing him off. The Hollywood Reporter reported the studio has already found a way to use Walker's footages before the actor's death in a car accident in 2013 and it is a way that will satisfy the actor and series' fans.

In the weeks that followed Walker's untimely death, a team that consisted of writer Chris Morgan, director James Wan and the studio's lead executive on the series Jeffrey Kirschenbaum watched the footages it had already shot featuring Walker. They modified the script in a way that the O'Conner character, which has always been a part of all, except one of the series' instalments, could still be part of the story but will exit out gracefully so the franchise could carry on. The modifications will require the director to film other scenes that are still to be written.

In December 2013, the studio extended the film's release date to April 2015, as opposed to the original July 2014 release date it previously announced. The new release date will give the team more time to shoot the new scenes.

According to The Daily Mail, the producers met a couple of times right after Walker's death. They realized that they need someone who looked like the actor to complete the movie and that's when the team approached Cody walker, his almost identical brother. They could film Cody from behind and at a distance and for shots they need Paul's face up close, the team can CGI later on.

In related news, the L.A. Sheriff's Department announced an updated statement saying it still doesn't know why the Porsche Carrera GT's driver, Roger Rodas, lost control. The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office said the car had been traveling at over 100 miles per hour when Rodas lost control. According to Hollywood Reporter, Walker's car spun partially, hitting a light post, a curb and a tree which turned the vehicle 180 degrees and causing the Porsche's passenger side to hit another tree that combusted it into flames. It appeared the car was almost split in half.
