‘The Fate of the Furious’: Helen Mirren ‘threatened to beat’ Vin Diesel for the role
Helen Mirren is one of the new additions to the cast of "The Fate of the Furious." Vin Diesel (Dominic Toretto) has recently quipped that the veteran actress was so desperate to be a part of the flick that she once “threatened to beat” him up for the role.
It has been tough for the cast as well as the crew of the franchise to take the story forward after the death of Paul Walker (Brian O'conner). The franchise will never be the same after his death. Perhaps, to compensate for his absence, the makers decided to add a few new names to the cast of the series and so they roped in Charlize Theron (Cipher), Helen Mirren (role undisclosed) as well as Kurt Russell (Mr. Nobody) in “Furious 8.”

The secret as to how Mirren bagged the role in the movie has been recently quipped by Diesel, who indirectly stated that she was very desperate to be a part of “The Fate of the Furious.”
“Helen Mirren, the wonderful and amazing Helen Mirren, accosted me at a Golden Globes party and basically threatened to beat me up if she wasn't going to be in one. Having these actors on the films was adding another element and dimension to what some might write off as just another action movie,” Diesel explained to Hashtag Legend.
As desperate as Mirren was to be a part of the movie, she was equally nervous before filming for the blockbuster franchise began. “I'm very nervous because when you're going on to a set with people who have been doing this for (so long), basically, they all know each other. I hope they'll be nice to me. I've only got one day, and I'll probably f**k it up, oh God,” she had earlier told Entertainment Weekly.
“The Fate of the Furious” is scheduled to hit the theatres in Australia on April 12, 2017.
