A letter with highly graphical sexual acts was presented to court as evidence against a step-father's long-running rape to his 15-year-old stepdaughter, The Daily Telegraph Reports. The letter includes instructions as to where the stepdaughter should wait for him and the unsettling reminder - "You will decide not me".

Wollongong District Court Judge Conlon sentenced him 15 years of serving time for four charges of repeated and persistent sexual abuse, "His abuse was over an extended period of time and it was frequent. That letter is a vivid example of the psychological pain inflicted upon the victim and his total dominance and control over her. It truly demonstrates the disgusting and degrading treatment to which this young victim was subjected. The offender has exploited this vulnerable young child in the worst possible way. The level of breach of trust is difficult to comprehend."

The man blamed his horrifying act to his recent porn addiction and admitted that he does not lust over children prior his stepdaughter. He pleaded guilty on April 2012 and expresses his regret about what he did, "I had a stepdaughter who loved me and I took advantage of that love for my own gain. Not a day goes by that I don't regret what I have done."

Mr Colon was appalled about what the man said, "It is indeed unfortunate that his exercise of choice in respect of his personal association with the victim had such a devastating effect on a young life."

The rape started when his stepdaughter was just 12 and escalated on January of 2010 when the girl was always left alone by her mother to attend to her nursing duties. Court doctors testified that the rape continued up until the very day he was arrested.

As a result of this incident, officials have dug up disturbing information that there was large number of cases against paedophiles in the last four years with assailants not being convicted with their crimes. Consequently, The Daily Telegraph started a campaign calling enforcement of mandatory minimum custodial sentences on all child sex abusers.

Reports from the government departments revealed that at least 6 per cent of accused had no convictions under section 10 and 15 per cent were given suspended sentence. "Section 10" is a law requiring court to take into account the offenders' character, antecedents, age, health and mental condition, the trivial nature of the offense, the extenuating circumstances in which the offence was committed and any other matter that court thinks proper to consider.

Rapes akin to this incident call for Australian Law to be more severe and ruthless on paedophiles. According to facts from MAKO (Movement Against Kindred Offenders), paedophiles are likely to re-offend and the majority of them will abuse 45-135 victims each. In the majority of reported cases, the offender is known to the child and will go extreme lengths to groom and molest children. And while assailants could go without being convicted, child sexual abuse inflicts a life sentence to the victims.
