'The Fault in Our Stars' Official Movie Poster Sparks Controversy

The official movie poster for "The Fault in Our Stars" has finally been revealed. While the photo of Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort is enough to cause squeals of delight, the tag line has caused quite the scandal online. What exactly is wrong with "One Sick Love Story?"

John Green's best-selling novel, "The Fault in Our Stars" has been adapted into a big screen movie. Taking the lead role of Hazel Grace Lancaster and Augustus Waters is Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort respectively. While they may play siblings in another film adaptation "Divergent," these two cosy up to each other as lovers in "TFIOS."

From filming in Pittsburgh to Amsterdam, a number of photos from the production were made available via Green's official Instagram account. Finally, after much wait, the official poster for the film has been released. While some fans are certainly pleased with the poster, quite a lot have reacted negatively about the tag line which goes: "One Sick Love Story."

For those living under a rock, "The Fault in Our Stars" follows the story of two Cancer-stricken teenagers who inevitably fall in love. So what did Green have to say about the conundrum? In his lengthy Tumblr post, Green explains exactly what he thinks about the poster's tag line.

"I like the tag line. I found it dark and angry in the same way that Hazel is (at least at times) dark and angry in her humor. I mostly wanted something that said, "This is hopefully not going to be a gauzy, sentimental love story that romanticizes illness and further spreads the lie that the only reason sick people exist is so that healthy people can learn lessons." But that's not a very good tag line. I like the tag line because it says, literally, the sick can also have love stories. Love and joy and romance are not just things reserved for the well," stated Green.

Check out the full post here. With or without the tagline, the poster is flawless and it definitely makes fans of the book look forward to the actual film. "The Fault in Our Stars" hits cinemas by June 2014.
