‘The Fault In Our Stars’ Shailene Woodley Defends Naked Scene In New Movie 'When I Have Sex I'm Naked'
Shailene Woodley of "The Fault in our Stars" gets naked in her new movie "White Bird in a Blizzard." In an interview with New York Magazine, Shailene Woodley said that she "got some flak" for her multiple naked scenes in her new movie directed by Gregg Araki. She also explained her reasons why she took the role despite the naked scenes.
"White Bird in a Blizzard" according to Etonline, is a drama set in 1988 and follows the life of a teenage girl whose life was thrown into chaos when her mother vanishes. Shailene Woodley plays the lead character of a high school student who engages in many sexual acts.
Woodley recalled she had fun filming the naked scenes and added that "everyone was freaked out because I'm nude, but in real life, when I have sex, I'm naked. I don't have a bra on, and I don't usually have panties on. So let's make a real movie! Let's bring truth to the scene! I didn't want to be exploited, but this girl-like most girls when they first have sex-doesn't know what she's doing. "
Woodley said she wanted her character's first kiss in the movie to be sloppy, "teenagerish" making out. "When you're younger, you think you know what to do, but you really don't," she added.
In the same interview, Shailene Woodley also said that she wants to branch out to more mature roles since she is already a woman. She claimed to no longer be a young adult at the age of 22, that she is already a woman thus she wants to play roles that play her age. Woodley's character in "White Bird in a Blizzard" may still be in high school but the naked scenes suggest for a more mature role.
Shailene Woodley added that "The Fault in our Stars" will be her last teenage movie. When the movie was filmed last year she still empathize with adolescence. But now that she is 22 she aims to play roles more for her age, apparently with naked scenes.
