Israeli female soldiers are in deep hot waters with the Israeli government and army after new recruits posted sexy and indecent, almost half-naked, photos of themselves on Facebook that were taken right inside the military barracks.

As expected, Israeli military commanders immediately put their foot down and acted accordingly on the matter.

Quoting a statement released by the military, the Israeli news site Walla said "the commanding officers disciplined the young Israeli female soldiers as they saw fitting" following their "unbecoming behaviour" for Israeli soldiers.

The statement, however, did not detail the exact disciplinary action or punishment given to the young female Israeli soldiers, although the news site said the base conducted educational lectures to keep soldiers from repeating the offense, quoting unidentified military officials.

The young female Israeli soldiers new recruits are stationed on a base in southern Israel.

One of the photos showed the young Israeli female soldiers wearing only helmets, and not much else, except ammo bags to protect their modesty.

Another showed them topless with backs to the camera and assault rifles slung across their buttocks.

This is not the first time, however, that young Israeli soldiers got themselves, whether purposely or not, into trouble.

The Israeli military top brass, in 2010, was forced to implement at social media ban after several photos Israeli soldiers dancing suggestively around Palestinian prisoners emerged online.

Most Israeli men and women, starting at age 18, are required to serve in the military.
