Bad blood will sputter all over the Mall of Asia Arena on Friday when rival rekindle their hatred towards each other anew in the quarterfinal round of the FIBA Asia Championship 2013.

Iran vs Jordan (3:00 p.m)

Middle East powers collide once again, but on a different playing field.

In a rematch of the epic quarterfinal two years ago in Wuhan, Jordan and Iran meet again to contend for a semifinal seat in FIBA Asia. Still bleeding from a 88-84 loss at the hands of Jordan, Iran wants a payback this time around.

Iran, which overwhelmed the playing field in the preliminary round, will be bringing the same formidable nucleous of Hamed Hadadi, Nikkhah Bahrami and Mahdi Kamrani. On the other hand, Jordan will enter the showdown without Sam Daghlas and Rasheim Wright, but they will pin their hope on Mohammad Hadrab and naturalized player, Jimmy Baxter, to step up, and perhaps, come through with a miracle.

In a match-up between two Middle East giants with history of competitive games anything can happen at this point of the tourney. The Iranians are the hands-down favorite in this game, but don't sleep on the Jordanians, they bite hard. However, there won't be an upset this time. Iran by five points.

China vs. Taiwan (5:30 p.m)

China started the tournament a little funky after lossing their opening game against South Korea 59-63 and then dropping another one at the hands of Iran 51-70 in Group C play.

Meanwhile, Taiwan defeated every team coming on thier way in their first five days only to lose the no.1 seedings to the Philippines by virtue of a 68-71 defeat to Qatar in the last day of the preliminary round.

Friday's match-up between China and Taiwan will feature the battle between the best snipers in the region. China shot 32 per cent from downtown, while Taiwan put up a jaw-dropping 40 per cent percentage from behind the arc.

China will have NBA veteran Yi Jianlian and his 17 points per game production will be the difference maker in the match with China winning likely by 8 points.

South Korea vs. Qatar (10:30 p.m)

The Koreans' outside shooting and the Qataris' ruggedness. This will be the theme of this quarterfinal duel. Koreans will have an incredible height advantage in this match, but the toughness of the Qataris should not be underestimated.

Heck, the Qataris could even dominate the Koreans with their physicality and athleticism. Former Washington Wizards forward Jarvis Hayes will be a handful for the Koreans, while Daoud Mosa Daoud and Yaseen Musa will create more havoc in the interior. The South Koreans, meanwhile, will pin on Mingoo Kim and Sungmin Cho to lead their charge towards another semifinal seat. In the end, the Qataris' toughness will be a huge difference in the match-up. Qataris by 7 points.
