The second day of FIBA Eurobasket 2013 featured more upsets and drama, with an overtime game and last-second shots for the win. Thursday's featured games were no less exciting as France utilised its running game and Lithuania used its big men to the hilt.

Group A: France 88, Great Britain 65

France went off to a hot start and never relinquished the lead as it defeated Great Britain in Group A action. Opening the game with a 15-3 run in the first 6 minutes of action, the Frenchmen relied on instant offense from Mickael Gelabale, who scored 7 of his 11 points in a three-minute stretch that practically took the fight out of the British. While Great Britain outscored France 23-19 in the second quarter, another 26-11 run in the third period, sparked by a Nicolas Batum steal and three-point play, put the game out of the Britons' reach for good.

France had five players scoring in double digits, led by Nicolas Batum with 17. Tony Parker had another remarkable all-around game, scoring 16 points, dishing out 5 assists, and stealing the ball twice. Great Britain stuggled mightily from the field, managing to connect on just 39.4 points of their attempts. They were led by Daniel Clark, who scored 15. Devon van Oostrum added 13 points in the blowout loss.

In other Group A games at the Tivoli Hall in Ljubljana, Ukraine outlasted Israel 74-67 and Belgium shocked Germany in overtime 77-73.

Group B: Lithuania 75, Macedonia 67

Reeling from a tough loss against Serbia on Wednesday, Lithuania made adjustments to edge Macedonia in Group B play. Instead of relying on outside shooting, coach Jonas Kazlauskas' men instead pounded the ball inside. The rugged inside play resulted in 40 points in the paint for the boys in green, who led each quarter in scoring. Jonar Valanciunas slammed the ball twice in the first half, helping Lithuania to a six-point lead at the break. Macedonia then fell behind by as much as 13 points in the second half, with Lithuania's suffocating defense limiting Bo McCalebb's production. Macedonia then went on a 12-2 tear to reduce the lead to just 3, before Darius Lavrinovic scored a crucial layup that stopped the Lithuanians' bleeding.

Lithuania was led by Mantas Kalnietis with 17 points, followed by Jonas Maciulis with 14. Three other Lithuanians scored 9 points or more. Macedonia, which shot just 6 of 28 from the three-point area, was led by Vlado Ilievski with 13. Pero Antic added 12 points and 8 rebounds. Bo McCalebb was held to 4-of-10 shooting en route to 11 points.

In other Group A games, Latvia sank a late jumper to upbend Montenegro 73-72 and Serbia asserted its might against Bosnia and Herzegovina, 77-67.
