FIFA World Cup Group F Results: Argentina and Nigeria Qualify

The last round of group stage matches started with Argentina already guaranteed to advance after taking 6 points from their last two matches. The second match against Iran proved crucial when a late Lionel Messi goal in stoppage time allowed the South American giants to begin the third round with only the top spot to play for but effectively already qualified.

QUALIFIED: 1. ARGENTINA, 2. NIGERIA

At the end of the evening, Argentina were on top of the table with maximum points after a 3-2 victory over Nigera. The Africans fall behind and end up on second place but theirs was perhaps one of the most exciting so far in the competition with the teams both able to score in the opening minutes leaving the score tied at 1-1 only 4 minutes into the game. ANother pair of goals early in the second half brought up the goal parade to 3-2 in favour of Argentina. The South Americans needed to defend until the whistle was blown to avoid another Nigerian equalizer.

Bosnia meanwhile, were able to redeem themselves somewhat by defeating Iran despite having sat with 0 points after their first two matches. Iran were never able to climb out of the hole that Lionel Messi put them in with his second match winner and Iran failed to do anything against Bosnia in their last match leaving them at the bottom with only a point to show for their efforts.
