'Fifty Shades Darker' trailer released [VIDEO]

The much awaited “Fifty Shades Darker” trailer is finally out and it has left fans very excited. It is dark, sexy, mysterious and sultry, giving an extended view at the developing and complicated romance between college grad Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) and BDSM-loving businessman Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan).

The studio first treated fans with a teaser on Monday, which was a 19-second clip. In the video, Anastasia unwraps a box with a his-and-her pair of masks inside. Christian, standing behind her, whispers into her ear, “Intrigued?”

“Fifty Shades Darker” focuses on Anastasia and Christian in a new phase of their relationship. It involves Anastasia making some decisions, for instance, she would rather not be beaten up by her boyfriend. The trailer also shows Kim Basinger showing up in an “Eyes Wide Shut” mask and asking Anastasia if she really thinks she is “the first person to try to save him (Grey).” The film’s main plot appears to revolve around a mob of stalkers who want to ruin the young lovers.

One of the biggest hurdles that Christian and Anastasia will face in “Fifty Shades Darker” is Christian’s former lover, Elena. Elena, referred to as ‘Mrs. Robinson’ by Anastasia, is the woman who set Christian down the dark road of S&M. Elena also happens to be much older than Christian, and is a close friend of his parents. The storyline of the sequel will come to a boil when Elena shows up during a masquerade party thrown at Christian’s parents’ home.

Co-stars Jennifer Ehle, Luke Grimes, Rita Ora, Victor Rasuk, Eloise Mumford, Max Martini and Marcia Gay Harden are back from the half-billion-dollar “Fifty Shades Of Grey,” with newcomers Hugh Dancy, Eric Johnson, Bella Heathcote and Kim. “Fifty Shades Darker” is directed by James Foley and the script is written by Niall Leonard.

Universal opens “Fifty Shades Darker” on Feb. 9 in Australia, and on Feb. 10, 2017 in the US.
