'Fifty Shades of Grey' Charlie Hunnam Past Films: How Will He Fare as Christian Grey? [PHOTOS]
"Sons of Anarchy" star, Charlie Hunnam has officially been cast as Christian Grey for the upcoming film adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey." Author E.L. James made the announcement early this weekend via her Twitter account. Judging from Charlie's extensive acting experience, how would he fare as Christian Grey?
Almost everyone who heard the casting news for "Fifty Shades of Grey" questioned the choices starting with "who exactly are these people?" It's not surprising given the production studio did say they'd choose unknown stars for the lead parts in the film. Dakota Johnson, cast as Anastasia Steele, would definitely raise a few eyebrows but Charlie Hunnam, cast as Christian Grey, already has a fan base of his own.
Long before Charlie made a name for himself as Jackson in "Sons of Anarchy", Charlie was quite the womanizer for the television series "Undeclared." Hunnam's character, Floyd Haythe won the hearts of quite a few women on campus with his good looks and British charm. Certainly, Charlie can win over Anastasia Steele for "Fifty Shades of Grey."
As for portraying Christian's ruthless demeanour, Charlie won't have any problem with that given he played the part of Bosie in "Cold Mountain." The part might have been insignificant but it did give viewers quite the chill in the film.
With regards to Christian Grey's dark persona, Charlie also has an experience with regards to playing the part. Hunnam played the part of Patric in "Children of Men" who was quite the temperamental yet passionate member of Julian's organization.
"Patric is a truly horrible bastard. He has a good heart but a soldier's aggression, and I think he's misunderstood. Instead of seeking help and trying to look for some kind of positive outlet, Patric just hurts people instead. It's an easy choice to play a villain one- dimensionally, but it makes it interesting and real if you're going to try and make the audience feel sorry for you and understand what your motivation is for being so horrible," explains Hunnam in an interview with Visual Hollywood.
Obviously, Charlie has the acting expertise to fully enact the part of Christian Grey. Fans of the novels can certainly rest well knowing that the role has fallen to the hands of a suitable star. Check out the slideshow to see more of Charlie Hunnam, the Christian Grey of "Fifty Shades of Grey."
