Fifty Shades of Grey Movie: Australian Actor Chris Hemsworth New Contender for Christian Grey Role
The casting battle of the much anticipated "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie still continues. This time, Australian actor Chris Hemsworth is reportedly joining the long list of potential actors who can portray the famous role of billionaire and BDSM enthusiast Christian Grey.
The "Thor" actor's name was recently mentioned in a couple of "Fifty Shades of Grey" fan casting polls alongside strong contenders like Ian Somerhalder, Matt Bomer, Alexander Skarsgaard and Henry Cavill. However, Chris Hemsworth has expressed earlier this summer that he is not that much interested in the role of the upcoming film.
When asked if he has ever heard about author E.L. James' erotic novels, the 29-year-old actor just laughed in response. Chris Hemsworth admitted that he never really read the "Fifty Shades of Grey" books. Thus, he declared that does not know if he would be interested portraying the role of Christian Grey.
On the contrary, other reports stated that Chris Hemsworth did actually read some parts of the "Fifty Shades of Grey" books privately. The actor even described the erotic novels as very forced and awkward to some extent.
Chris Hemsworth catapulted to stardom with his strong physical appearance in successful films like "Thor," "Snow White and The Huntsman" and "The Avengers." He may be a good choice in portraying the role but author E.L. James and film producers are reportedly not convinced with Chris Hemsworth's specific superhero persona in the movie industry.
Moreover, the actor's extremely busy filming schedule is another factor that holds him back from bagging the coveted role of Christian Grey. Chris Hemsworth is currently working on numerous movie projects such as "Robopocalypse," "The Avengers 2," "Rush" and "Thor: The Dark World" which will be released in 2013.
