Late last month, Ashley Benson was the most hyped actress to play Anastasia Steele for the highly anticipated film adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey." Afterwards, Caroline Dhavernas of "Hannibal" was claimed the next Ana. Now, "Glee's" Melissa Benoist is eyed as a potential star to play Anastasia Steele.

Universal Studios and Focus Features are yet to announce an official cast for the film but that hasn't stopped fans from expressing their say on who should star in the film. Casting speculation had begun since the announcement late last year and it continues to this day.

Countless lists with over hundreds of celebrities have already been named as suitable stars for the lead roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. Each day brings a new name for the "Fifty Shades" fandom. While the actors up for the role of Grey increase each day, so does possible actresses for the role of Anastasia Steele.

Late last month, "Pretty Little Liars" Ashley Benson was a strong favourite for the role but was then replaced by "Hannibal's" Caroline Dhavernas. The whims of the fans appear to have changed this time around because the current favourite for the role of Ana falls in the hands of "Glee" star, Melissa Benoist.

With dark grey to bluish eyes and brunette hair, Melissa has the physical characteristics of Ana down pat. The only problem of course is Melissa's age. Given Benoist's role as a high school student on "Glee", it could greatly affect the perception of viewers of her portraying a college student involved in S&M for "Fifty Shades."

Still, Melissa could be a potential for the role if she does manage to beat the strongest contenders, Emilia Clarke and Alexis Bledel. Check out the slideshow to see more of this "Glee" star up for the role of Anastasia Steele in "Fifty Shades of Grey."
