'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Casting: Nina Dobrev Allegedly Forbade Ian Somerhalder to Star as Christian Grey? [PHOTOS]
Ian Somerhalder has been eyed for the role of Christian Grey in the highly anticipated film adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey." The "Vampire Diaries" star just might say yes to the role but not if on and off screen beau, Nina Dobrev, has anything to say against it. Rumour has it that Dobrev greatly forbids Ian from starring in the film - with or without her.
All thanks to E.L. James best-selling erotica novel, "Fifty Shades of Grey", people in and out of Hollywood have been keen and open to the idea of BDSM. Apart from that, everyone has been intrigued by the books that a film is set for the works making fans overexcited and anxious.
Focus Features and Universal Studios are in charge of the film adaptation with the script by Kelly Marcel. As of late, a director is still set to be found which leaves auditions for the lead parts way off schedule. Of course, leave it to "Fifty" fans to come up with countless lists naming potential stars in the business that could play the lead roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele.
A constant favourite for the role of Christian Grey falls in the favour of Ian Somerhalder from "The Vampire Diaries." Despite being over 30-years of age, Ian appears as if he hasn't aged a day over 25 which is a great reason why a lot of women have eyed him for the S&M role of Grey.
Yet, chances of Ian getting cast in the film might fall short all thanks to rumours of his "clingy" girlfriend, Nina Dobrev. Sources close to the couple claim that Nina Dobrev has been the green-eyed monster with news regarding women who could pair up with Ian onscreen for "Fifty Shades."
Other tabloids claim Nina has greatly forbid Ian from starring in the film unless she would be cast as Anastasia Steele opposite him. Representatives of both stars have not spoken up on the issue but one thing is for sure, Dobrev has certainly not been jealous but supportive for Ian with regards to the role.
"I don't know if that's a good idea. I think it's best for any of the actors on Vampire Diaries to kind of do their own things ... and create new characters. And as much as you try when you shoot a movie, if it's two of the same people, the fans will always see you as ... they'll see you as Elena and they'll see him as Damon if we do the film together," explained Nina in an interview with The Celebrity Café.
