'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Casting: Producer Wants to Cast Fresh Face to Play Role Of Christian Grey
While the Websites and Internet is going crazy over actors Billy Magnussen, Robert Pattinson and Jamie Dornan, among others to get cast as the new Christian Grey in the most talked about movie of the year "Fifty Shades of Grey," the producer Michael De Luca has different plans. De Luca wants to cast a fresh face for the role of the protagonist, he revealed Monday.
The movie's producer was present at Hollywood Film Awards but the media went crazy asking De Luca about who is going to play the role of a dominating, sex-craving and ruthless character of Grey against the very vulnerable Dakota Johnson - who has been cast as Anastasia Steele for the movie. The movie, which is E.L. James adaptation of the erotic novel by same name, had to stop filming when actor Charlie Hunnam exited from the role of Christian Grey citing "busy schedule."
Universal Studio is in a hurry to find their next Christian Grey given that the film is scheduled to begin production Nov. 1 in order to meet an Aug. 1, 2014, release date. The movie is based on a novel by the same name which created records for selling the most number of copies. "Fifty Shades of Grey" novel has the strongest fan following where the fans are looking forward to the character's casting.
"I feel like everyone has an idea of what these characters look like and sound like, so to present the world with fresh faces -- where no pre-conceived notions or baggage come with it -- is best," said DeLuca to the LA Times.
"It's like casting Superman or James Bond. A fresh face is appropriate," added the producer
The chosen male actor would be cast against 24-year-old Johnson, who is confident to play the role of Anastasia Steele - who gets in touch with the sexy side of her in the movie.
"I happen to think Dakota could have chemistry with a mailbox. But we're going to help her out and hook her up with the right person," continued De Luca.
