The "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie is running in theatres in a year's time. Casting announcements are expected soon. Fans of the E.L. James erotic fiction have rallied far and wide online just to get their favourite hunky male celeb for the Christian Grey role. Unfortunately for some equally hot actors, they won't be cast over one thing: age. If only they were younger!

Here are some of the hottest male actors who are unfortunately way older than Christian Grey's age in the series.

1. Simon Baker. Simon, 43, is Patrick Jane in "The Mentalist." Jane does not wear elegant clothes like Christian. But he is as enigmatic, as sexy as the erotic character, just the same. It must be his hair. Or the manner by which he looks through Lisbon, a character so in-love with him.

2. Jude Law. At 40, Jude Law is still one of the sexiest male actors in Hollywood today. He's got the piercing eyes of Christian Grey, and he does look like someone who would encourage pain in bed. He's also a brilliant and versatile actor.

3. Gabriel Macht. Gabriel, 41, is currently making girls fall in-love with his character, Harvey Specter, in the TV series "Suits." As Harvey, Gabriel suits up like Christian Grey. He tells women what he wants and expects them to do what he says - just like Mr Grey.

4. Christian Bale. At 39, Christian is over a decade older than his namesake in the most popular erotic fiction of the past decade. Christian nails both the good guy - dark guy vibe perfectly. As Batman, he's got a lot of darkness to match his world-saving heroism. The right Christian Grey actor should show this dark-and-bright contrast, lest he would be a boring walking man doll in the big screen.

5. Ethan Hawke. Ethan, 42, is the perfect model for the ruggedly handsome look with a youthful twist. His face may be ageing, but he's still got some youthful vibe going on about him. He'd be a great Christian Grey if only he was about ten years younger.

Actors being cast for sexy, power-driven, billionaire roles should look up to Simon Baker, Jude Law, Gabriel Macht, Christian Bale, and Ethan Hawke. They - not just those being cast in Fifty Shades of Grey - should see how their nuances work when playing different characters.

The actor who would play Christian Grey should be a lot like any one of these five older male celebs. Just because they're older doesn't mean they'd sizzle less on screen.
