‘Fifty Shades of Grey’: ‘Sons of Anarchy’ Cast Reacts to Casting Charlie Hunnam as Christian Grey
Charlie Hunnam is thrilled to play Christian Grey in the screen adaptation of the racy novel, "Fifty Shades of Grey." Recently, the cast of "Sons of Anarchy" was seen commenting on Hunnam's transition from the small screen to the big screen.
At the premiere party of "Sons of Anarchy" on Saturday, Kurt Sutter (creator of the show) introduced the actor as "fifty shades of fantastic." The crowd applauded and laughed, and we are sure Hunnam must have blushed at Hollywood's Dolby Theatre where the event happened, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Peter Weller encouraged Hunnam to take up the role though he was apprehensive about the script and called it "pulpy."
"I said 'Listen, you go do this. I'm gonna water bomb your house with balloons if you don't,' " Peter said.
Theo Rossi supported Hunnam throughout the process. "I went through a lot of the process with him," Rossi said to The Hollywood Reporter. "I was there every day with him making him answer the texts and the e-mails, going through the process and the chemistry stuff."
"I think he's been teed up for this his entire career, and I think that he's going to shock everybody," Rossi said. "I don't care if it's Fifty Shades of Grey or 50 holes on a golf course, he's gonna be great on it. He's one of the hardest workers, he's smart, he's damn sexy, the guy's got it going on. He's an actor's actor. He's not one of those half-assed pretty boys; he can act." Rossi added.
Rossi revealed that Hunnam was skeptical about signing up for "Fifty Shades of Grey." But by doing this project, the audience will get to see the actor's brand new side.
LaMonica's girlfriend shared this news with him.
"My girlfriend went crazy," he said with a laugh. "She's running around like, 'Oh my God, did you hear the news?' I'm like, 'No,' thinking, you know, there's a lot going on in Syria right now. 'Did something happen?' She's like, 'No, Charlie got Fifty Shades of Grey!' "LaMonica Garrett said.
Mark Boone Junior was seen joking around as he suggested that if the film bombs, he will be more than happy to save the day.
"I'm the backup," Mark joked.
"If the first one goes under, guess who gets the call." He added as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Charlie Hunnam will share the screen with actress Dakota Johnson in "Fifty Shades of Grey," that is slated to release in August 2014.
