'Fifty Shades of Grey' producers have yet to pick an actor for the role of Christian Grey. Could 'Superman' Henry Cavill be right for the part?

When news broke recently on Henry Cavill's split with his ex-fiancée, he naturally drew media spotlights until 'Grey's' fans noticed. Having been refreshed on Cavill's looks and appeal, fans realized Cavill is another reasonable candidate for the BDSM demigod character of Christian Grey.

Cavill, who is playing Clark Kent in the 2013 "Man of Steel" film, has cut his engagement with professional show jumper Ellen Whitaker. Still, it is his air of magnetism - not his recent split - that is making certain fans think that he may be the right guy to lead the sure-hit 'Fifty Shades.'

Meanwhile, Dana Brunetti, one of the Fifty Shades producers, confirmed the production team has not spoken to anyone for the role of Christian Grey.

Ian Somerhalder, in talks with 'Fifty Shades?'

Brunetti hinted on Twitter Fifty Shades casting will be done with director's input. This contradicts an earlier announcement from Ian Somerhalder that he has scheduled a meeting with the people behind the upcoming film.

Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon Salvatore in "Vampire Diaries," said last weekend at a convention for the series that he was already discussing with the Fifty Shades team.

Somerhalder told his cheering fans: "I am going to Los Angeles [...] next week to meet with all those guys."

In reaction, Brunetti tweeted, Somerhalder may have been "lied to" by some people.

While no one has been cast for the role of Christian Grey, fans can still enjoy making speculations on the casting for Fifty Shades of Grey.
