Fans may still be sobbing following the exit of its male lead star, Charlie Hunnam. But the future of the film production for E.L. James’s “Fifty Shades of Grey” and Hunnam’s career may be both on the line following the English hunk’s surprising decision to drop out from the film.

A number of theories have come out as to the real reasons why Hunnam left the film. The official statement released by the Universal Pictures and Focus Features noted that his “immersive TV schedule” forced him out of the production which will begin on Nov. 5.

“The filmmakers of FIFTY SHADES OF GREY and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam’s immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey,” the statement said, according to contactmusic.com.

But the fans are not buying it. Film insiders believe that there could be more to Charlie’s exit than his schedule. Equally interesting to note however, is the impact Charlie’s move may have on his career and on the future of “Fifty Shades of Grey.”

Here are the top ways Charlie Hunnam’s dropping out from FSOG will affect his career and what lies ahead of the controversial film.

1. Recasting will cause further delay
It is an open secret that the casting for Christian Grey (and Anastasia Steele) has taken some time before Charlie Hunnam was named to play the lead role. It should be interesting to note that months before actual production begins and the film has been making a buzz for months with no actor named as Christian Grey until Charlie came along. Just three weeks into the official announcement that the Pacific Rim star nabbed the controversial role and it’s open for another casting.

A film insider was interviewed by E! News and pointed out however, that recasting for Christian Grey role may not entirely affect the production.

"Recasting the lead is the easiest thing, unless they need to bring someone more expensive in, which I doubt," an insider from the film industry was quoted as telling E! News.

2. Film budget may balloon (or not?)
Was Charlie Hunnam offered very low talent fees to star opposite Dakota Johnson that some film experts don’t think it will affect the film budget.

The industry insider who spoke to E! News noted that the genre of the film does not entirely entail a lot of green papers and the film budget may be accounted the same estimates before the "Dead Fall" star even came on board.

The industry insider added, "Since it's not a special-effects-driven movie, it won't really affect budget."

3. Backlash to Charlie’s career
If Hunnam’s exit will have little impact (or close to none) to the film and its production, how it will affect the English hunk? More questions have come out as to why Hunnam really left “Fifty Shades of Grey.” But more concerns have been raised on his career.

Will his exit create a negative light on his career?

Production of “Fifty Shades of Grey” is slated to begin on Nov. 5. But with Charlie Hunnam’s exit, it is still uncertain whether it will push production as planned.
