‘Fifty Shades of Grey:’ What Does Michelle Obama Have to Say?
U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama has spoken about the hit erotic fiction "Fifty Shades of Grey," but she notes she has not "had time to read anything."
Speaking to iVillage, the First Lady acknowledges the popularity of EL James' work.
"You know, you can't live in this society without hearing about 'Fifty Shades of Grey.' Everybody has heard about that book, including me," she said.
"I have a lot of friends, staff, people who are reading it, so it's all around," she added, as if hinting that she would not mind reading the book if she had the time.
Michelle Obama's 'Guesswork' Take on "Fifty Shades"
Ms Obama gamely shared her thoughts on "Fifty Shades" even after stressing that she has not read the book.
"Not having read it, it's hard to know exactly what's going on. But it's obviously tacked into something, and giving people permission to explore parts of themselves that maybe felt a bit taboo. But I don't know, that's just a good guess," she said.
Good meal, good run
In the website's Michelle Obama feature, the First Lady has also been quoted as saying that proper food intake is important in one's daily life.
"(Y)ou've got to eat lunch or else you're going to conk out. You're going to feel sick. You're going to feel like you have to throw up. And that's directly connected to the food you put into your body."
It is just a random coincidence that EL James' lead character Christian Grey believes in exactly the same thing, albeit from a different perspective.
The Skeptics
Some news commenters did not seem convinced that the First Lady has not ready "Fifty Shades." On the other hand, there are those who just do not care what the U.S. president's wife has been reading.
