E.L. James launched a wine collection named after her much-celebrated novel "Fifty Shades of Grey."

James has apparently been interested in winemaking for some time now. That may have been a reason why wine is frequently mentioned in the novel. The characters seem to be drinking wine all the time in the novel. Probably, that is the reason it does not seem odd that the British author launched a wine collection of the same name.

James introduces the wine collection on its Web site by calling the white wine in the collection as something offering an experience which is "delicately playful." On the other hand, she calls the red one as the "perfect indulgence."

James has apparently worked hard with winemakers in California on creating a couple of blended wines named White Silk and Red Satin. The wines are expected to create a similar sensual environment just like what she creates in her books.

Fiftyshadeswine.com describes 2009 Fifty Shades of Grey Red Satin as a blend of Syrah and Petite Sirah. The tasting notes for the red wine include cocoa powder, black cherry, vanilla, caramel, clove spice and leather. The price of Red Satin is $17.99 for a single bottle and $215.88 for a case of 12.

On the other hand, the 2012 Fifty Shades of Grey White Silk is a combination of Gewürztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc. The white wine is supposed to have pear and honey, mineral, butterscotch, crisp grapefruit and lychee. The price of White Silk is just like its counterpart, $17.99 for a single bottle and $215.88 for a case of 12.

The 2-Bottle Ultimate Fifty Shades of Grey Wine Gift Set comes for $45.99. The deluxe gift box is black in colour. It contains one bottle of Fifty Shades of Grey Red Satin and a bottle of Fifty Shades of Grey White Silk.
