Filipina-British TV host-model Georgina Wilson finally answered the irate post on Twitter by Jake Ejercito, son of former Philippine President Joseph Estrada, regarding Wilson's reported discriminatory remark about the former leader.

On Twitter last Friday, Ejercito quoted the Fil-Brit model as saying, "ugh i hate politics - but I only have one thing to say: Anyone that votes for Erap is a f***ing idiot"

In her email to the Philippine entertainment website Pep.ph, the 27-year-old Wilson said that Ejercito may be a bit too late as he was reacting to a tweet that was posted four years ago.

"I would like to clarify the details of a tweet I posted regarding former President Joseph Ejercito Estrada. The tweet was written four years ago in 2009 at a time when I was still studying at University in Australia. It is in no way connected to the recently concluded elections," she said.

Wilson said that while she rues the fact that she may have caused hurt to the Ejercito-Estrada family, she thought it was also not fair that her statement was taken out of context.

She said she knows and understands the responsibilities of being in the public eye and recognises that her words may have come off as "insensitive and hurtful." But just the same, she feels it is unfair that things have been "taken out of context."

Last Friday, the former president's son posted on the micro-blogging site: "Ms. Wilson, social media might be a free world but I think it's quite irresponsible to express such an opinion unless you are well-versed with the current situation of the city of Manila and how the present local administration has failed to handle it.

"Moreover, to call 325,288 Manileños, including the 9.4 million Filipinos who voted for him in 2010, 'f***ing idiots' is harsh and truly uncalled for. Don't hate without knowing the facts," he added on Twitter.

Estrada, who as an actor used a screen name instead of his real name Jose Marcelo Ejercito, was ousted from the presidency 12 years ago after he was found guilty of plunder. In 2010, he ran again for the presidency but lost to the country's incumbent president Benigno Aquino III.

He now seats as mayor of Manila after winning in the recently concluded mid-term elections, beating incumbent mayor Alfredo Lim.
