Miley Cyrus has finally spoken up about Liam Hemsworth and her fans are really "respecting" her for that. The 20-year-old admitted to Ellen DeGeneres that she is finally happy being single and does not spend much time thinking about her ex-fiancé. The singer was pretty eloquent and spoke really well about her broken relation to talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.

The "We Can't Stop" singer and "Hunger Games" star called off their engagement in Sept. after dating for three years. Both Miley and Liam chose not to comment on the break-up directly but they hinted they are no longer a couple through their actions. Liam was seen kissing Eliza Gonzalez and Miley was linked to rapper Mike Will Make It. It is the first time since Sept. that Miley has spoken openly about her break-up.

"The last time you were here, I threw you an engagement party," DeGeneres recalled.

"Do you want your money back?" Cyrus replied reminding Ellen how she had sent her some male strippers on the show. "I should have kept one of those dude's numbers. That would have come in handy right now."

DeGeneres further probed Miley and asked her if she felt awkward that Liam is not with her anymore when she is famous and getting all the attention. But Miley is of the opinion that life moves on and she is prioritizing work over thinking about love life.

"It's not really as awkward because I'm living it. I think people spend more time actually thinking about it than I really do," Cyrus said. "I just believe that when a chapter is done, you have to close it and start that new one. That's kind of where I am right now. I felt like I have so much to be thankful for at this time that my energy hasn't really been focused on that."

Miley however had no qualms in accepting that her latest album "BANGERZ" is all about her heartbreak with the 23-year-old actor Liam.

"The whole album is a story of that," she said.

"I didn't really know . . . until I listened to it now that it's done . . . this really is telling a story," she explained. "I think I knew more intuitively where my life was going, than I actually thought I did at the time."

DeGeneres further asked the "Wrecking Ball" singer if she is in touch with Liam or any other of her exes.

"I haven't really gotten to see anyone right now because I've been so crazy busy. I'm just letting that chapter kind of close, and just looking forward to that new one," Cyrus said.

"I want to be really clear and determined with everything that I'm doing in my life right now, and I have been. I keep saying I'm the happiest I've ever been and that's not even a dig, that's just me because I really am genuinely happy finally with myself," Miley said.

The singer admitted that she has never been alone in her entire life and is actually enjoying this single phase in life where she can just be herself.

"I think sometimes it takes you separating yourself from someone else to really be happy with who you are. I've never been able to just be alone -- and I'm obsessed with being alone and hearing my thoughts," Miley added.

And her fans are using the word "respect" for Miley after watching the interview where she talks about Liam.

"So much respect for miley," writes Aspen Riley on You Tube.

"wow umm Miley, I still don't like you but I respect you now. It seriously takes courage to go up to an interview and so openly talk about a recent broken engagement like that. just one thing that will make me happy is, please stop twerking," writes Nicolexx.

"Though she got a lot of uproar from her songs these days, I honestly think that what she said was a pretty good response. Respectful yet straight to the point," writes another fan liveloovelaungh on Youtube.
