In celebration of his 25 years in the music industry as a solo artist, Sting has released a fresh and first ever 'appumentary' for iPad.

With Sting turning 60, he has once again done what others have not tried before in the entire music history and that is to come up with an 'appumentary.' This is combined terms of application and documentary.

The Sting 25 App features his overall body of work that consists of performances, memorabilia and interviews made, all in one electronic tablet. It is free of charge once you get it from iPad's App Store.

"Today is my digital re-birth. The app is a model for future delivery of music," Sting said during his performance at the Apple Store in Manhattan where he dedicated the song 'Fragile' to the co-founder of the company Steve Jobs who passed away last month.

Sting's Digital Scrapbook

The British born bassist looks back at his roots when he started out as a part of the rock band 'The Police.' He considers it as his digital scrapbook as they first thought of coming up with a documentary but instead came up with a more compelling project which is the Sting 25 App.

It explores the years when he finally decided to go solo and discusses all his musical influences and his being an environmental activist. It includes a lot of photos, lyrics that are handwritten by him, exclusive interviews and even images of his most loved instruments in 360 degrees.

It also has some concert footage in celebration of his 60th birthday where he spent it with performances from other renowned artists like Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel and even a duet with Lady Gaga.

Even the executive producer of the app, Justin Wikes, believes that the story of Sting's success could not be better said than through this medium.

"I felt like an archaeologist in a way, going through years and years of material, excavating these pieces of history, to put together the box set," the singer added.
