The long wait may not be over for the fans of the film and the book just yet, but at least now, their patience has been rewarded even for just a little bit.

The new installment of the Percy Jackson franchise, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, has officially released five photos from the film, offering a sneak peak of some of the best moments of the film, on and off cam.

Three year after the release of the first installment, the successful teen adventure is set to return to theaters on August 16, with teen heartthrob Logan Lerman, who plays as demigod Percy Jackson, bringing along a lot of friends--some old and some new.

The photos give us a first look at Logan, Alexandra Daddario as Annabeth Chase, and Barandon T. Jackson as Grover, all returning from Percy Jackson & the Lighting Thief, along with the film's newest cast members, Leven Rambin as Clarisse LaRue, Douglas Smith as Tyson the Cyclops, and Stanley Tucci as Dionysus.

Adapted from Rick Riordan's best-selling novel series Percy Jackson and the Olympians, the sequel follows Percy and his friends on their quest to the mythical land called Sea of Monsters to find the Golden Fleece, an object vital to the survival of a magical tree that protects Percy's home, Camp Half-Blood.

In an interview with USA Today, Logan dished, "I'm a little more comfortable with the sword now. We need it since there are bigger monsters. If you're going to make a sequel, you gotta scale it up a little bit."

He further added, "It's fun to go back to your old shoes once again and play around, and it's always fun to have a sword in your hand, especially when you're doing scenes which involve fighting monsters. I'm still a kid. I love doing that stuff."

While the photos do show off a good number of the new cast members, there are still plenty that need to be revealed. For the meantime, take a look at the slideshow to see the next adventure of Percy and his friends.
