Meryl Streep is at it again with another Oscar-worthy performance in "The Iron Lady".

The veteran actress has been wowing movie audiences with outstanding performances from all her movies - may it be a drama or a comedy - but she has yet to win an Oscar since "Sophie's Choice" in 1982.

Her latest feature, "The Iron Lady", is a biographical picture on former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, with Streep in the title role. The film recollects the her rule, including the days leading up to the 1982 Falklands War.

Judging from the U.S. theatrical trailer's that just released, the actress definitely looks convincing as the Conservative leader, Britain's only female prime minister.

Streep recently bagged the Best Actress trophy for this role at the 2011 New York Film Critics Circle Awards, which is hopefully just the start of a string of nominations she'll garner this awards season.

Of course, Streep is known for being malleable when it comes to embodying roles, on which Miranda Priestley ("The Devil Wears Prada") to Julia Child ("Julie & Julia") are noteworthy examples. The actress has proven that she has gone beyond abiding the standards of embodying a role convincingly, and that goes right to the heart of every character she plays.

However, will it all amount to another Best Actress Oscar?

Streep's previous Oscar wins were in 1979 as Best Supporting Actress for "Kramer vs. Kramer" and in 1983 as Polish Holocaust survivor Zofia "Sophie" Zawistowski in "Sophie's Choice".

All subsequent projects have brought her nominations only. Now, it is one thing to recognize Streep as a really good actress and another thing to see her with multi-Oscar achievements. And while it certainly doesn't really lessen her stature as a legend, here's hoping that she might still get that coveted trophy with "The Iron Lady".
