“The Flash” Season 1 (1x15) aired Mar. 17 on The CW. This week’s new episode reveals the identity of the show’s version of Eobard Thawne, Reverse Flash in DC Comics. Cisco realises meeting him means his death, but Barry is too busy saving the Wests and Central City from a big tsunami.

Eobard Thawne is (spoiler alert) Dr Harrison Wells. Tom Cavanagh, who plays Dr Wells aka Reverse Flash, aka Eobard of the distant future, has earlier told the media he is in fact the yellow streak. The details, however, remain blurry. Is he an evil villain in this modern TV adaptation?

In an effort to unravel the mystery behind Dr Wells, Cisco in “The Flash” 1x15 go back in time, so to speak. He realises that when Reverse Flash attacked Dr Wells over the “battle” for the tachyon prototype, things don’t add up. Then Dr Wells shows up, and reveals himself.

The confrontation between Cisco and Dr Wells ends badly. Cisco gets emotional when it becomes clear that he will not get out of the confrontation alive. Cisco (spoiler alert) gets killed, with Eobard saying Cisco’s been dead for centuries, anyway. What happens next may or may not undo this moment.

As a speedster, Dr Wells can create a clone illusion at will. Barry gets to do the same in “The Flash” 1x15, but he doesn’t realise it yet. Later, Barry gets to level up. He accidentally travels through time – just like Reverse Flash (and BBC’s Dr Who). What happens next?

"The Flash" showrunner Andrew Kreisberg told TVLine Eobard Thawne is not necessarily evil. He sees himself as a hero though he meant to kill Barry Allen 15 years ago. Eobard also confirms in 1x15 the popular fan speculation that he is a “distant relative” of Eddie Thawne, Iris’ live-in boyfriend.

In “The Flash” 1x15, the return of Mark Mardon aka Weather Wizard (guest star Liam McIntyre) put Joe West and his daughter Iris in great danger. Mardon creates a fatal tsunami to hit Central City, so The Flash has to run in his fastest possible speed to counter the waves.

Prior to going against Mardon’s tsunami, Barry reveals to Iris that he is The Flash. He zooms through the crowd, creating a clone image again. Then he realizes he’s gone back in time. Barry Allen’s words upon realising what he’s done: “Oh, boy!” This happens after Barry and Iris kiss.
