Spoiler alert! This article contains “The Flash" spoilers. Read on if you would like to know what happens next before the new episode airs.
“With Barry gone, the team must figure out a way to handle the return of an old enemy – Girder (guest star Greg Finley). Realizing Girder is retracing his steps from his last attack, Iris (Candice Patton) volunteers to act as bait to trap him in S.T.A.R. Labs. Meanwhile, Barry fights to return to his old life,” states the episode synopsis on ComicBook.
In the previous episode, Barry and Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) attempted to copy the same incident that gave the former his superspeed, using the particle accelerator. However, the experiment did not turn out the way they expected with Barry turning into dust. He may have died or been transported to a different dimension. With Barry absent, Zoom continues his plan to dominate Central City. Zoom also announced that Barry is already gone.
Based on the promo video, Barry apparently survived the experiment, although he is lost in time. He was shown meeting his friends, although they may only be projections of his subconscious mind. The video showed him waking up in a strange world with and Joe (Jesse L. Martin), who seemed to be stopping him from coming back. Cisco (Carlos Valdes) may be the one to save him from his current condition. In the meantime, Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) and Jesse Quick may assume his role as speedsters and stop the threat looming over the city.
The next episode is expected to feature a lot of action, as well as showcase more about the Speed Force. More about Zoom may also be revealed as The Flash attempts to return to the present.
The episode, titled “The Runaway Dinosaur,” was directed by Kevin Smith and written by Zack Stentz. It will air on May 10 on The CW. It also airs on Fox8 in Australia. More updates and details are expected soon.
