In Season 2 Episode 21 of 'The Flash,' Barry (Grant Gustin) was transported to a strange but familiar place, after the cannon experiment with Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanaugh) failed.

Previously, Barry and Wells tried to recreate the incident that gave the former his abilities with the hope of reacquiring the speed that he lost to Zoom.

Barry met Not Joe in his childhood home, who told him that the Speed Force thought that he would be more comfortable with a person he knows. It appears that the Speed Force can manifest itself in the form of doppelgangers. The Speed Force told Barry that he cannot return to his friends until he catches a speedster. If he returns home, he will have to work without his powers.

Barry decides to stay and in the process, went through a number of emotional hurdles. He visited his mother’s grave for the first time with Not Henry, and it was shown that he never truly got over her death. He still regrets failing to save her. He was told by Not Nora that he cannot run away from his bad experiences. He has to learn how to accept his failures to run free.

He also went through his favorite book as a kid, titled “The Runaway Dinosaur.” Afterwards, Barry took Iris’ (Candice Patton) hand in the Speed Force tornado and opted to return with his superpowers. It was revealed that the speedster he needed to catch was himself.

Meanwhile, Jesse, remained in a coma until Barry with the Speed Force went to her. It is still uncertain whether she possesses any abilities.

When Barry successfully returned to the real world, he went to Nora’s grave with Iris.

During the episode, Zoom also asked Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) whether she was with or against him. If she decides to turn on her, he warned she that she will suffer. The episode ended with a glimpse of a giant army that Zoom has gathered. Barry will need all the help he can get to defeat Zoom in the last two episodes of Season.

More details about Zoom’s real intentions and the identity of the man in the iron mask are expected soon. 'The Flash' will air next on May 17 on CBS. It also airs on Fox8 in Australia.
