The Flash was victorious in the race to save humanity versus Zoom. However, viewers need to know what happened to Zoom after the fight. This defines the course of Season 3.
Looking back, when Zoom got defeated, Dementor-like Time Wraiths passed him through the portal, where he journeyed to an unknown fate. It was noted that before he left, they drastically altered his physical attributes. It seemed to be Hunter Zolomon’s punishment to him for altering the Speed Force. Hence, time was messed up. Zoom’s body became deformed and ugly, MTV shares.
As Zoom’s body disintegrated, the more he transformed into the Black Flash. The comics show that the Black Flash is similar to the Grim Reaper. However, he is only responsible for all speedsters in the Multiverse. He signifies death. Hence, when a Speedster’s time has come, the Black Flash pulls them back into the Speed Force.
The Black Flash persona does not equate to a villain. Both Professor Zoom and Barry Allen have had encounters with him in the comics. The desiccation of Zoom’s face, change of logo colour, ear bolts and electric charge shows that Zoom has become Black Flash. This also explains why Andrew Kreisberg and Greg Berlanti chose a more sinister colour than Zoom’s usual yellow and red.
Since time has been messed with, Season 3 would predictably have a completely different timeline. Although viewers would have to wait until October 2016 to see what happens, clues can be found in “Flashpoint.”
“Flashpoint” is a comic written by Andy Kubert and Geoff Johns. In the storyline, Barry Allen woke up and found out that everything is different. He discovers that the heroes are the villains and vice versa. In this particular world, Batman is called Thomas Wayne and not Bruce Wayne, E! Online writes.
All these happened because Barry went back in time to save his mother. Going back warped the timeline of events. The whole Speed Force was pulled with him. This resulted to his allies’ change of history.
“The Flash” season 3 kicks off on Oct. 6, 2016 on The CW. It will also air on Fox8 in Australia.
