'The Flash' season 4 spoilers: 'House' star joins cast as quirky super genius; next villain will, thankfully, not be another speedster
"The Flash" airs Tuesdays on The CW
“House MD’s” infamous “cutthroat B” has been cast in “The Flash.” Anne Dudek was recently named to be part of The CW superhero hit series as Tracy Brand -- a quirky future genius and “a smorgasbord of quirky idiosyncrasies.” While what that means is not yet clear, viewers can be assured that Dudek will be as flashy as she was in “House MD.”

Tracy Brand will be a big name in the future and her state will show a hint of what she will become. However, this will not come too easy as she will have to overcome a lot of obstacles to fulfil her destiny. While fans might recognise her as Dr. Amber Volakis, she has also done notable work in “Big Love,” “Mad Men,” “Covert Affairs,” “The Magicians” and is also set to appear in “Hampton DeVille.”
While fans might be celebrating the introduction of another exciting character, reports say that “The Flash” will be changing things up after three seasons. Andrew Kreisberg confirms that the next main villain will no longer be a speedster. When this announcement was made, the Dolby Theatre erupted into loud applause and cheers.
It looks like fans have already found the speedster villain plot redundant and unexciting since, so far, every season has had a speedster as the main villain. Hollywood Reporter says that beginning with Reverse-Flash (Tom Cavanagh/Matt Letscher) in the first season, to Zoom (Teddy Sears) in season two until the ever elusive Savitar (Andre Tricoteux) in the third season; the show has never failed to have a fellow speedster as the big bad.
By introducing a villain from another class, this could spell a lot of new things for the show worth looking forward to. It also looks like viewers are finally ready for things to get mixed up in “The Flash” lore, especially when it comes to villains.
“The Flash” will continue with its musical crossover with “Supergirl” on March 21 on The CW. It will also air on FOX8 in Australia.
