Flo Rida Entourage Fined for Drug, Weapon Charges [PHOTO and VIDEO]
One of Flo Rida's entourage was let off easy with a fine after being charged with illegal weapon and drug possession.
Dakari Dalawn Philips, 33, pleaded guilty to charges possession of dangerous drugs, restricted drugs and a weapon after police raided the rappers 19th floor hotel suite.
The employee spent the night in Walker St. watch house before appearing in the Townsville Magistrates Court.
The raid was done at 8:40 pm by detectives in plain clothes after Northern Region Drug Squad officers was tipped off suggesting a strong smell of marijuana.
"Officers searched the hotel room and located a clip seal bag with 16g of green leafy material, a joint with 1g of cannabis, three grinders, a set of scales covered in specks of green leafy material, a gold capsule of tetrahydra cannabis, a viagra tablet, a 10ml bottle of liquid cannabis and an Uzi taser," police prosecutor Colleen Wainwright said to the court, according to the Herald Sun.
However, with no previous conviction, Philips was only fined $1865 and was immediately released, according to Web site Starpulse.
Requests done by defense lawyer Anderson Telford regarding the nondisclosure of his client's charges were subsequently ignored.
He further stated that his client was affiliated to Flo Rida working as his personal assistant for a month and a half.
"The defence lawyer said his client was remorseful but cliamed the drug possesion was for "personal use" and the amount - which was 18g in total - was insignificant," reports the Herald Sun.
The rapper was supposed to perform in the Fat as Butter festival last Saturday, but was three hours late, leaving fans and festival patrons disappointed.
The rapper gained fame with his first single "Low" featuring T-Pain. It was featured in the movie Step Up 2: The Streets.
"Australian fans, I was looking forward to performing for you but due to unforeseen circumstances I wasn't able to do so last night," said Flo Rida in a statement vaguely explaining his absence from the festival .
The clean record of Philips allowed him to be released just before 12 noon, still missing his 4am flight with the rest of the crew.
